Red maple is often one of the first trees to color up in autumn and it puts the most brilliant displays of any tree. It brings shade to the hot summers before showcasing red or yellow foliage in the fall. The Red Maple is a tall tree with an oval shape. It has a medium to fast growth-rate and reaches 40 ft. - 60 ft. tall with a spread of about 40 ft. It is a deciduous tree and its new leaves appear red-tinged before turning green with maturity. It is hardy in USDA Zones 3-9 and prefers wet areas so be sure to plant in moist soil.
